Okay!! This day has been amazingly PRODUCTIVE (I discovered quite a few things this once)
Finally my decision to go one project at a time is yielding fruitful results.
I started dabbling with VEX-VOPS,and kept on discovering newer things.
Also discovered few of the ways to get displacement maps and Cavity maps etc from ZBrush to Houdini!! (I was so thrilled when I realised I found out what I had been trying for days now..!!)
I do recall mentioning that my 'matchmove was probably faulty'.
I'm glad I was partially wrong :)
The matchmove was right but the setup of the scene in Houdini was faulty.
The idea that the matchmove was wrong( which I felt that time), only dawned upon me when I was almost done with the modelling process of the Crater as well as the Debris.
For a moment I was like "HOLY SHIT, I'll have to redo all this AGAIN!!".
Next moment I realised that my model is semi-procedural and I'm working in
HOUDINI, which undoubtedly was a great relief!
Today I'm also done with the Matchmove troubleshooting!! YAY :)
Also my understanding of several concepts has cleared a lot since I have stuck to one project from Start-Finish.
This has helped me a lot to understand a generic workflow more clearly than before.
I started out with Matchmoving the plates and then exporting the camera solve to houdini.
After this I dealt modelling of the crater. Here, I decided to go with semi-procedural modelling process of the crater, and the debris.
I have simply used Copy SOP for scattering the debris on the ground.(and not the usual dynamics and particles approach, since the debris is stationary)
Now I'm dealing with Shading and Lighting in this project
and
Finally I'll do the post-production in Nuke. (I'm also thinking about integrating
some Particles into this too!!lets see how far this goes)
This whole obligation of taking a project from Beginning to the End
has firmed up a lot many ideas in my head and I have become all the more
confident on my understanding of these concepts.
*sipping a good strong COFFEE* WOOHOOO!! I hope every day's like this :)
Is it the caffeine kick or I'm losing my head :)
